True Temper Shafts Win U.S. Open

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Number One shaft manufacturer in the world, True Temper Sports won its second major of the 2009 PGA TOUR season with a victory at the 109th U.S. Open. As the world’s best players battled rain delays and water-logged conditions at Bethpage Black, the 2009 U.S. Open champion relied on Dynamic Gold shafts in his irons and Grafalloy Epic graphite shafts in his 3- and 5-wood to produce a solid 4-under 276 and a two-shot victory.

In addition to the win, 56 of the 60 players in the final field for the U.S. Open played True Temper products as True Temper’s nearest competitor managed only to field three shafts in play.

“The U.S. Open is an incredible tournament and it has held a special place in the hearts of golfers and True Temper for more than 100 years. Interestingly, True Temper has won more U.S. Open titles than all other shaft companies combined, which clearly demonstrates our company heritage and leadership in product design,” says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “We are indeed very proud to once again have Dynamic Gold, Project X and Grafalloy branded shafts play such a pivotal role in a great championship event.”

Featuring a high-flex, tour weight design, Dynamic Gold steel shafts are the top-selling steel shaft in golf and are preferred by skilled players seeking a controlled, penetrating ball flight. Project X shaft is another successful brand which is well-known a providing a dedicated constant taper rate per inch for each shaft in the set. Longer taper rate results in more energy transfer to the ball and the ball gets up faster a
